What is Manual Lymphatic Drainage?
The lymphatic system is entwined with the blood circulation and serves primarily to remove waste from the cells of the body, maintain fluid balance and fight infection. Lymphatic vessels are found throughout the body. The system has no pump like the heart pumping the circulatory system and is instead reliant on a system of valves, and pressure from the arterial and muscular movements to move the lymph fluid. Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) assists the movement of the lymph and promotes the optimal functioning of the lymphatic system. It can be applied to a wide range of issues and pathologies, to great effect.

What happens during a session?
The first session will include a free 30 minute initial consultation to determine your present and past health and lifestyle, so as to tailor the treatment to suit your needs. Thereafter, Manual Lymphatic Drainage sessions are 60 minutes long.
The session will involve an extremely gentle, rhythmic massage using a variety of specialised techniques to stimulate the movement of lymph through the body. It induces a highly relaxed state, and many clients fall asleep.
Advice will be given about what you can do to stimulate lymph flow and to maintain or improve your wellbeing.
