What is The Bowen Technique?

The Bowen Technique or Bowen Therapy is a remedial soft-tissue therapy that prompts the body to reset, repair and balance itself.

The Technique consists of a series of non-invasive moves across muscle, tendon and other soft tissue. These gentle rolling-type moves are believed to stimulate the brain through the tissue and nerve pathways to investigate and initiate repair. There is no manipulation, adjustment or force applied, and the technique is suitable for everyone, including newborn babies, children, pregnant women and the elderly.

How may you benefit from Bowen?

The Bowen Technique has a great success rate for clients with a wide range of conditions and injuries. Many common presentations have responded well to Bowen, such as back and neck pain, sciatica, frozen shoulder, hayfever, asthma, migraines, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and stress. Typically, clients report an increase in energy and sense of wellbing, an improvement in function and a reduction in pain.

What happens during a session?

The first session will include an initial consultation to determine your present and past health and lifestyle, so as to tailor the treatment to suit your needs.

The treatment will consist of a series of moves made through light clothing onto specific areas of the body. You will typically be lying on the treatment couch, although it is possible to be treated in a seated position.

If you have not had Bowen before then I recommend a course of three treatments, set one week apart. This will provide maximum opportunity for your body to process any changes and for such improvements to be maintained in the longer term. It is common to gain relief from even long-standing conditions.

As a complementary therapy the Bowen Technique can enhance other medical treatments. However please note that it is best not to receive manipulative therapies, such as massage or acupuncture, at the same time or immediately following your Bowen treatment as Bowen is asking the body to make its own changes and other therapies may disturb this process.

Advice will be given about what you can do to maintain or improve your wellbeing.

Bowen Technique: £40 for 60 minutes.

What happens during a session?

The first session will include an initial consultation to determine your child’s present and past health and lifestyle, so as to tailor the treatment to suit his or her needs.

The treatment will be carried out in the presence of the parent or guardian, and will consist of a series of moves made through light clothing onto specific areas of the body. Treatments can be done whilst the child is sitting on the parent’s lap, or on a chair, lying down on the couch, or even whilst the child is playing. The experience for your child is gentle, subtle and relaxing.

Please note that Bowen Therapy is not a substitute for medical advice or treatment and you should seek guidance from your doctor or other suitably qualified medical professional if you have any health concerns.

As a complementary therapy, the Bowen Technique can enhance other medical treatments. However, it is best for your child not to receive manipulative therapies, such as massage or acupuncture, at the same time or immediately following the Bowen treatment as Bowen is asking the body to make its own changes and other therapies may disturb this process.

As a parent myself, I understand how important the health, happiness and wellbeing of your child is to you so I offer special rates for babies and children.
